Diwali is a festival that everyone really looks forward to. It is the festival of lights and brings everyone together. So let’s have a look at some important Vastu tips to keep in mind for Diwali.
Cleaning
The first step to a happy home is cleanliness. Cleaning every little corner of your home is essential in order to remove negative energy and blocked vibes.
Make sure you remove spider webs from the deepest corners and do not miss out the kitchen or even the store room.
Discard Junk
Let go of junk i.e. broken electronics, broken crockery, etc.
A good rule of thumb is to consider discarding things that you haven’t used for more than 1 or 2 years. You do not need these unwanted things lying around you.
Light up your home for prosperity
While you’re thinking about lighting up your home, do not forget to consider directions according to vastu shastra.
- North: Blue, yellow and green lights can be placed in this direction to decorate your home
- South: White, violet and red lights are ideal for this
- East: This is the direction for auspicious colours like red, yellow and orange
- West: Add more of yellow, orange and pink lights here
Diyas should be lit with pure ghee on Diwali to bring forth prosperity. Never use sunflower oil to light diyas.
What not to do?
- Make sure you get your main door repaired and it does not make any creaky sounds
- Goddess Laxmi’s footprints should always show the inward movement and not the other way around
- Symbols like Swastik, Om and rangoli decorations should not be put on the South or West walls and direction
- Do not use old clothes to clean idols and photos of deities
Using proper colour and light in the appropriate direction according to vastu will enhance your chances of wealth, success and prosperity.
